Spatial distribution of fecal pollution indicators in sewage sludge flocs and their removal and inactivation as revealed by qPCR/viability-qPCR during potassium ferrate treatment

Tracking SARS-CoV-2 in rivers as a tool for epidemiological surveillance

Capsid integrity quantitative PCR to determine virus infectivity in environmental and food applications - A systematic review

Summary: Capsid integrity quantitative PCR (qPCR) is a molecular detection method for infectious viruses, but variations in pre-treatment conditions for different virus types may limit the efficacy of specific protocols. It is recommended to optimize specific protocols for each virus and a framework for general assay conditions has been identified, which can benefit the investigation of infectious virus transmission.

Summary: The use of lake sedimentary DNA to track long-term changes in terrestrial and aquatic biota is a rapidly advancing field in paleoecological research. Despite being widely applied, there are still knowledge gaps that require further research to ensure the reliability of sedimentary DNA signals. By synthesizing the latest literature and case studies, state-of-the-art analytical procedures and recommendations have been provided for effective sampling, extraction, amplification, quantification, and generation of DNA inventories from sedimentary ancient DNA (sedaDNA) using high-throughput sequencing technologies.
