Measuring the effects of first antiepileptic medication in Temporal Lobe Epilepsy: Predictive value of quantitative-EEG analysis

Lorenzo Ricci et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the quantitative EEG responses in drug-naive patients with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (TLE) after initiating Levetiracetam (LEV) treatment in order to predict the clinical outcome. The findings showed that LEV treatment induced changes in EEG parameters, which were predictive of the patients' clinical outcome. These results suggest that quantitative EEG may serve as a useful tool in understanding the effects of AEDs in the central nervous system and providing new prognostic biomarkers for epilepsy patients.

Longitudinal impact of cannabidiol on EEG measures in subjects with treatment-resistant epilepsy

Leslie Grayson et al.

Summary: The longitudinal study on EEG shows that highly purified CBD has positive effects on interictal epileptiform discharge frequency in both children and adults. However, the effects differ between age groups and do not seem to be dose or treatment-duration dependent.
