Advances in droplet aerobreakup

Shubham Sharma et al.

Summary: This paper presents a concise review and discussion on the developments of aerodynamic breakup for Newtonian and non-Newtonian liquid droplets. Different breakup modes, suitable non-dimensional numbers, and the role of hydrodynamic instabilities in droplet atomization are discussed. Special attention is given to the shock induced atomization of polymeric and liquid metal droplets.

Experimental and numerical investigations on molten metal atomization techniques-A critical review

Somjit Mandal et al.

Summary: This review compares different techniques for the atomization of molten metals and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of each technique. Experimental and numerical investigations on the effects of different atomization techniques on powder size are reviewed. Hybrid atomization and special atomizer designs for improving powder size and quality are also introduced.

Sensitivity analysis and measurement uncertainties of a two-camera depth from defocus imaging system

Wu Zhou et al.

Summary: This study comprehensively investigated the impact of system and particle parameters on the calibration functions and measurement uncertainties of a two-camera Depth from Defocus imaging system, with experimental verification. It provides explicit recommendations on which quantities are most influential in determining measurement accuracy and must be carefully controlled.

Shock induced aerobreakup of a droplet

Shubham Sharma et al.

Summary: The multiscale dynamics of shock-droplet interaction is crucial for understanding droplet atomisation due to external airflow. The interaction phenomena are classified into wave dynamics and droplet breakup dynamics, primarily observing different breakup modes for the studied range of Weber numbers.
