Variation of air permeability in bromobutyl rubber/epoxidized natural rubber composites: Influence of structure of filler particle

Aswathy Thuruthil Raju et al.

Summary: The effect of carbon black structure on dispersion and barrier properties in BIIR/ENR 50 blends is extensively studied in this paper. The study finds that the structure of carbon black strongly influences both the mode of dispersion and barrier properties of the end product. The morphology of various carbon blacks is examined using microscopy techniques, and the influence of carbon black structure on reinforcing is analyzed by studying physical properties and interactions. Higher structure carbon black is more difficult to disperse in BIIR/ENR 50 blends compared to lower structure carbon black, leading to changes in permeability properties.

Two antagonistic effects of flow/mixing on reactive polymer blending

Wei-Yun Ji et al.

Summary: This study reveals that in reactive polymer blending, flow/mixing can both promote copolymer formation by creating interfaces and enhance collisions between reactive groups, as well as potentially pull the copolymer out of the interfaces and migrate it to one of the two polymer components of the blend, reducing its compatibilization efficiency.

Self-healing Polyurethane Elastomer Based on Molecular Design: Combination of Reversible Hydrogen Bonds and High Segment Mobility

Zhaopeng Liang et al.

Summary: The self-healing ability of polyurethane can be improved initially by increasing the length of polypropylene glycol blocks, but is ultimately reduced due to a decrease in hydrogen bond density. This study shows that there is a balance between the mobility of PU chains and the density of hydrogen bonds in determining the self-healing ability of the material.

Anew route of cross-linking ofcarboxylated acrylonitrile-butadienerubber viazinc oxide-amino acid network formation

Mithun Das et al.

Summary: A high-performance elastomeric material based on carboxylated acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (XNBR) was developed using a unique cross-linking route involving zwitterionic compounds as secondary cross-linking agents. The dual ionic network structure formed by zinc oxide (ZnO) and amino acids significantly improved the physical properties of the XNBR material. The results of this study demonstrate that the cross-linked XNBR rubber with ZnO and amino acids exhibits superior tensile strength compared to conventional cross-linking systems.
