Straightforward Access to Enantioenriched cis-3-Fluoro-dihydroquinolin-4-ols Derivatives via Ru(II)-Catalyzed-Asymmetric Transfer Hydrogenation/Dynamic Kinetic Resolution

Ricardo Molina Betancourt et al.

Summary: A practical method for the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation/dynamic kinetic resolution of N-Boc 3-fluoro-dihydrotetrahydroquinolin-4-ones into the corresponding cis-fluoro alcohols is reported. The reaction achieved high yields, up to 99:1 diastereomeric ratio (dr), and up to >99% enantiomeric excess (ee) by using a ruthenium complex and a formic acid/triethylamine mixture under mild conditions.

An Environmentally Sustainable Synthesis of Enantioenriched CF3-Chromanol, Indanol and Tetralol Derivatives by Rh-Catalyzed Asymmetric Transfer Hydrogenation

Ricardo Molina Betancourt et al.

Summary: The Rh(III)-catalyzed asymmetric reduction of alpha-trifluoromethyl ketones through transfer hydrogenation was developed under mild conditions. It enables a dynamic kinetic resolution process to access a series of enantioenriched cis-trifluoromethyl alcohols. The reaction was performed efficiently in the green solvent 2-MeTHF using HCO2H/Et3N (1 : 1) as the hydrogen source. High yields and excellent diastereo- and enantioselectivities were achieved for the synthesis of CF3-chromanol, CF3-indanol, and CF3-tetralol derivatives.

Tethered Rh(III)-N-(p-Tolylsulfonyl)-1,2-Diphenylethylene-1,2-Diamine Complexes: Efficient Catalysts for Asymmetric Transfer Hydrogenation

Pierre-Georges Echeverria et al.

Summary: Transition-metal-catalyzed asymmetric transfer hydrogenation (ATH) is an efficient method for accessing enantiomerically pure secondary alcohols, which are crucial intermediates in the pharmaceutical industry and advanced materials manufacturing. This article discusses various catalysts, including Ru(II), Rh(III), and Ir(III) complexes, and investigates the influence of different substituents on the reaction.

Recent Progress and Applications of Transition-Metal-Catalyzed Asymmetric Hydrogenation and Transfer Hydrogenation of Ketones and Imines through Dynamic Kinetic Resolution

Ricardo Molina Betancourt et al.

Summary: This short review focuses on the development of efficient, atom-economical, and sustainable methods for the production of chiral alcohols and amines, particularly through homogeneous asymmetric catalysis. It discusses asymmetric hydrogenation and transfer hydrogenation, as well as dynamic kinetic resolution as key approaches to constructing up to three stereogenic centers.

Rhodium-Catalyzed Asymmetric Transfer Hydrogenation/Dynamic Kinetic Resolution of 3-Benzylidene-Chromanones

Ricardo Molina Betancourt et al.

Summary: Enantiomerically enriched cis-3-benzylchromanols were efficiently synthesized through Rh-catalyzed asymmetric transfer hydrogenation, enabling the reduction of both C=C and C=O bonds and the formation of two stereocenters in high yields with excellent levels of diastereo- and enantioselectivities in a single step.

Ru(II)-Catalyzed Asymmetric Transfer Hydrogenation of 3-Fluorochromanone Derivatives to Access Enantioenriched cis-3-Fluorochroman-4-ols through Dynamic Kinetic Resolution

Ricardo Molina Betancourt et al.

Summary: Enantioenriched cis-3-fluoro-chroman-4-ol derivatives were conveniently prepared through ruthenium-catalyzed asymmetric transfer hydrogenation using a dynamic kinetic resolution process. The reaction proceeded under mild conditions, affording the reduced fluorinated alcohols in good yields, high diastereomeric ratios, and excellent enantioselectivities.
