Lactococcus lactis NZ9000 Prevents Asthmatic Airway Inflammation and Remodelling in Rats through the Improvement of Intestinal Barrier Function and Systemic TGF-β Production

Daniel Cervantes-Garcia et al.

Summary: The use of Lactococcus lactis NZ9000 orally diminished inflammatory responses in asthmatic rats, reduced serum allergen-specific IgE levels, prevented tissue remodelling in the lungs, and improved intestinal barrier function. Additionally, it increased Peyer's patch and goblet cell quantity in the intestine, normalized morphological alterations, and increased systemic TGF-beta production. These results suggest that L. lactis may be a potential candidate for asthma prevention.
