The effects of mismatch between SPECT and CT images on quantitative activity estimation - A simulation study

Yingqing Lyu et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the impact of mismatch between CT and SPECT images on quantitative activity estimation. The results show that the mismatch can lead to errors in volume-of-interest delineation and subsequently affect the accuracy of activity estimation. It is recommended to perform registration between emission and transmission images at the same time point to ensure diagnostic and dosimetric accuracy.

Respiratory impacts on static and respiratory gated 99mTc-MAA SPECT/CT for liver radioembolization: A simulation study

Zhonglin Lu et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the impact of respiratory motion on static and respiratory gated Tc-99m-MAA SPECT in liver radioembolization therapy planning. The results show that VOI segmentation mismatch has the greatest impact on LSF and TNR estimation. RG SPECT is generally superior to static SPECT when the VOI masks are derived from a matched CT.

EANM dosimetry committee series on standard operational procedures: a unified methodology for 99mTc-MAA pre- and 90Y peri-therapy dosimetry in liver radioembolization with 90Y microspheres

Carlo Chiesa et al.

Summary: The standard operational procedure aims to standardize the evaluation methodology for absorbed dose calculations in Y-90 microsphere liver radioembolization. Treatment planning based on average absorbed dose is advised, with distinct evaluation between target tumors and non-tumoral tissue being vital for proper therapy optimization. Various imaging methodologies such as SPECT/CT and PET/CT are recommended for accurate dosimetry calculations.

Evaluation of different CT maps for attenuation correction and segmentation in static 99mTc-MAA SPECT/CT for 90Y radioembolization treatment planning: A simulation study

Zhonglin Lu et al.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the effects of AC and VOI segmentation on the quantitation accuracy of SPECT, and proposes a CT map for the estimation of LSF and TNR. The results show that HCT-MID performs slightly better for AC effect and HCT-EX and HCT-MID perform better for VOI effect in LSF and TNR estimation.
