Eltrombopag Added to Immunosuppression in Severe Aplastic Anemia

R. Peffault de Latour et al.

Summary: Eltrombopag improves the efficacy of standard immunosuppressive therapy for severe aplastic anemia, leading to higher complete response rates within 3 months.

A multicenter phase II study on the efficacy and safety of hetrombopag in patients with severe aplastic anemia refractory to immunosuppressive therapy

Guangxin Peng et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of hetrombopag in patients with severe aplastic anemia who did not respond to standard first-line immunosuppressive therapy. The results showed promising hematologic responses in a majority of patients, with durable effects. Although there were adverse events, long-term use of hetrombopag was generally safe.

Summary: This study investigated the gene expression patterns and mechanisms of adipogenic and osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells, identifying key genes associated with these differentiation processes. Additionally, the study provided valuable insights for further research in this area.

Patients with mast cell activation symptoms and elevated baseline serum tryptase level have unique bone marrow morphology

Matthew P. Giannetti et al.

Summary: Patients with MCAS-T exhibit unique morphologic and histologic features in bone marrow, including larger, hypogranular MCs located in paratrabecular and perivascular areas, associated with bone marrow eosinophilia. All patients available for tryptase genotyping were confirmed to have HaT, indicating that elevated tryptase levels in MCAS-T patients are caused by this genetic trait.

Transfusion practices for pediatric oncology and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation patients: Data from the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute Recipient Epidemiology and Donor Evaluation Study-III (REDS-III)

Ruchika Goel et al.

Summary: The multicenter retrospective study evaluated transfusion practices in pediatric oncology and HSCT patients, finding that red blood cells and platelets were the most commonly transfused components. Patients in the 1 to <6 years of range were most likely to be transfused, and acute myeloid leukemia and aplastic anemia were the most common diagnoses associated with transfusion.

Current evidence and the emerging role of eltrombopag in severe aplastic anemia

Beatrice Drexler et al.

Summary: Eltrombopag as a TPO receptor agonist shows beneficial effects on expanding and maintaining HSCs in the treatment of AA. When used in combination with horse antithymocyte globulin and cyclosporine, it can significantly improve treatment response rates. However, high-dose usage may lead to adverse events and clonal evolution with chromosomal abnormalities.
