Arum italicum mediated silver nanoparticles: Synthesis and investigation of some biochemical parameters

Ismet Meydan et al.

Summary: The advancement of nanotechnology in the scientific world contributes significantly to living systems, particularly when combined with plant-derived resources. The synthesis of nanoparticles using silver metal and Arum italicum plant has shown promising results in antibacterial activity and DNA damage prevention. However, the nanoparticles did not exhibit antifungal effects against Candida albicans. The interaction between the plant and silver metal was analyzed through various methods, showing potential applications in antimicrobial and antioxidant properties.

Green synthesis and characterization of silver nanoparticles from Acacia nilotica and their anticancer, antidiabetic and antioxidant efficacy

Muhammad Zubair et al.

Summary: Both cancer and diabetes are serious health issues with a high mortality rate worldwide. This study investigates the use of plant-mediated nanoparticles for the treatment of these diseases. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were synthesized from Acacia nilotica bark extract and characterized using standard techniques. The study found that the plant-mediated AgNPs showed potential as an anticancer, antidiabetic, and antioxidant agent. Further research is needed to understand the molecular mechanisms behind the therapeutic effects.

Biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles using three different fruit extracts: Characterization, formation mechanism and estrogen removal

Xiulan Weng et al.

Summary: Plant-mediated synthesis of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) using fruit extracts as stabilizing and reducing agents was successfully performed. The Ag NPs exhibited distinct absorption bands in the UV-visible spectra and were confirmed to have spherical shapes and varying particle sizes through SEM and TEM analysis. Spectral and advanced analysis techniques were used to determine the crystallinity, nanostructure, and organic compounds present on the surface of Ag NPs. The synthesized nanoparticles also showed promising potentials in environmental remediation.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.
