Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma gene variants modify human airway and systemic responses to indoor dibutyl phthalate exposure

Clarus Leung et al.

Summary: This study investigates how SNPs in PPARG and oxidative stress genes modify the impact of DBP exposure on lung function and immune responses. The results suggest that variants in PPARG play a greater role in airway allergic responses to DBP than oxidative stress-related genes.

Mono-2-ethylhexyl phthalate drives progression of PINK1-parkin-mediated mitophagy via increasing mitochondrial ROS to exacerbate cytotoxicity

Jian Xu et al.

Summary: MEHP exacerbates cytotoxicity by amplifying the PINK1-Parkin-mediated mitophagy pathway, leading to increased mitochondrial damage and robust mitophagy. Co-treatment with N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) counteracted the effects of MEHP-CCCP, suggesting that mitochondrial ROS played a vital role in this process. The findings provide insights into the potential roles of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) in human diseases such as Parkinson's disease.

Tributyltin triggers lipogenesis in macrophages via modifying PPARγ pathway

Jiapeng Jie et al.

Summary: This study revealed that TBT can strongly activate PPAR gamma in human macrophages, leading to increased lipid accumulation and expression of lipid metabolism-related genes. The involvement of PPAR gamma in TBT-induced lipogenesis was confirmed by the down-regulation of effects in PPAR gamma-deficient macrophages. The findings suggest a potential mechanism for TBT-induced metabolism disturbance and obesity through targeting PPAR gamma.

Organophosphorus pesticides exert estrogen receptor agonistic effect determined using Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development PBTG455, and induce estrogen receptor-dependent adipogenesis of 3T3-L1 adipocytes

Jin Tae Kim et al.

Summary: The study revealed that four organophosphorus pesticides may induce adipogenesis by interacting with the estrogen receptor, leading to lipid droplet accumulation and regulation of gene expression related to fat metabolism.

The Long-Term DEHP Exposure Confers Multidrug Resistance of Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Cells through ABC Transporters and Intracellular ROS

Mahendra Jadhao et al.

Summary: The study revealed that long-term exposure to DEHP can induce acquired multidrug resistance in breast cancer cells, potentially through upregulation of ABC transporters. By inhibiting ABC transporters with tariquidar, drug cytotoxicity can be enhanced, reversing acquired multidrug resistance.
