Rapid quantification of seven major neonicotinoids and neonicotinoid-like compounds and their key metabolites in human urine

Summary: We have developed a specific and robust analytical method to analyze the most important neonicotinoids and their metabolites in human urine. The method was successfully validated and applied to quantify these compounds in individuals from the general population in Germany and pregnant women from Brazil with no known occupational exposures to neonicotinoids.

Human metabolism and urinary excretion of seven neonicotinoids and neonicotinoid-like compounds after controlled oral dosages

Summary: The study revealed that neonicotinoids and neonicotinoid-like compounds are extensively metabolized in humans to specific metabolites which are excreted alongside the parent compounds. A total of 24 metabolites were detected, with phase-I metabolites predominantly derived through mono-oxidation and oxidative N-desalkylation reactions.

Summary: This study successfully determined the levels of 13 pesticides and their metabolites in human urine samples using solid-phase extraction and liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry. The detection frequencies of these pesticides and metabolites were found to be relatively high in human urine samples.
