24-epibrassinolide promotes selenium uptake in grapevine under selenium stress

Lijin Lin et al.

Summary: The effects of different concentrations of 24-epibrassinolide on selenium stress and accumulation in grapevine were evaluated. The results showed that 24-epibrassinolide can increase grapevine biomass, photosynthetic pigment content, and antioxidant enzyme activity. It also promotes selenium uptake and organic selenium transport in grapevine.

Effects of mutual intercropping on cadmium accumulation of Solanum photeinocarpum Nakamura et Odashima and its post-grafting generations

Ran Zhang et al.

Summary: Intercropping Solanum photeinocarpum with its post-grafting generations can improve their phytoremediation ability for Cd-contaminated soil, increasing biomass, Cd contents, and Cd extractions. Intercropping also enhances physiological parameters such as chlorophyll content and antioxidant enzyme activity.

Salicylic acid alleviates selenium stress and promotes selenium uptake of grapevine

Zhiyu Li et al.

Summary: The study found that exogenous salicylic acid (SA) has a promoting effect on the growth and selenium (Se) uptake of grapevine under Se stress. The biomass and chlorophyll content of grapevine tend to increase when the concentration of SA is below 150 mg/L, but decrease when the concentration of SA is above 150 mg/L. Different concentrations of SA can enhance the activity of superoxide dismutase and reduce the activity of peroxidase.

Changes of fungal community and non-volatile metabolites during pile-fermentation of dark green tea

Shuai Hu et al.

Summary: This study investigated fungal succession, non-volatile flavor compounds, and their relationships during pile-fermentation of dark green tea using multi-omics approaches. Different fungal genera were identified at different stages of fermentation, with Aspergillus as the dominant genus. Important flavor compounds such as caffeine, catechins, amino acids, and organic acids were found to decrease in content during fermentation. This research provides new insights into the pivotal role of fungal succession in the manufacturing process of dark green tea.

Exogenous Application of Methionine and Phenylalanine Confers Salinity Tolerance in Tomato by Concerted Regulation of Metabolites and Antioxidants

Hafiza Iqra Almas et al.

Summary: The foliar spray of 0.02% Met significantly improved growth and yield parameters under 6 dS/m stress condition. The combination of 0.02% Met + 0.02% Phe increased carotenoid contents, total carbohydrates, total free amino acids, proline contents, while reducing lipid peroxidation rate and electrolyte leakage compared to salt-treated plants alone. The foliar application of Met and Phe enhanced plasma membrane stability, osmolyte contents, and antioxidative enzyme activity in tomato plants, indicating that it effectively mitigated the harmful effects of salinity and increased tomato yield.
