An improved four-parameter conjugated bond-based peridynamic method for fiber-reinforced composites

Lu Che et al.

Summary: In this study, an improved lamina conjugated BB-PD model is established to study the fracture behavior of composite materials. The model defines four basic generalized PD bonds and determines the four micro-modulus parameters to describe the engineering material constants.

Peridynamic micromechanical model for damage mechanisms in composites

Y. L. Hu et al.

Summary: This study presents a novel three-dimensional micromechanical model to investigate the effective elastic properties and damage mechanisms in composites. It establishes relationships between microstructural features, such as shape, size, and distribution of fibers, and damage initiation, while considering the effect of temperature change. The model allows for the evaluation of material properties from a single load case and does not require surface correction.

A continuum-molecular model for anisotropic electrically conductive materials

Vito Diana et al.

Summary: The proposed model presents an anisotropic framework for two-dimensional electrical conduction, elasticity, and fracture in the peridynamic theoretical framework. It utilizes elastic non-central pair potentials and inelastic pair potential functions to describe interactions between material points, allowing for a bond-based type model for conductive Cauchy orthotropic media without restrictions on the number of independent material constants. The model also considers macroscopic anisotropic conductivity and non-uniform material toughness by adopting an anisotropic energetic failure criterion related to direction-dependent fracture energy functionals.

Modeling of peridynamic beams and shells with transverse shear effect via interpolation method

Guozhe Shen et al.

Summary: Peridynamics is a nonlocal theory that can handle easily discontinuities such as cracks, even though it is computationally more expensive. The study introduces new PD beam and shell models based on micro-beam bond and Timoshenko beam theory, with interpolation method used for describing various deformations and strain energy densities. The high precision of PD beam and shell models is proven through simulation results.

A continuum-kinematics-inspired peridynamic model of anisotropic continua: Elasticity, damage, and fracture

Da-Lang Tian et al.

Summary: This study expands linearized elastic isotropic continuum-kinematics-inspired-peridynamics to analyze anisotropic materials, generating anisotropy by changing material properties and evaluating the accuracy of the computational models through comparison with finite element analysis results. The ability of the model to describe the damage and fracture behavior of anisotropic materials is verified by performing quantitative simulations and comparing with experimental data.
