A detailed investigation of the temperature-controlled fluidized bed solar dryer: A numerical, experimental, and modeling study

Ali Etem Gurel et al.

Summary: Solar thermal systems are commonly used for sustainable thermal energy, and a temperature-controlled fluidized bed solar drying system has been successfully designed in this study. The efficiency of the system was found to be 64%, with the flat plate and plate with zigzag fins achieving exergy efficiencies of 7.2% and 11.6% respectively. Response surface methodology was used to model moisture content values, showing accurate predictions with high fitting performance.

Numerical and experimental analysis of parallel-pass forced convection solar air heating wall with different plenum and absorber configurations

Ataollah Khanlari et al.

Summary: Solar energy has received great attention in recent years due to its economic, non-polluting, and renewable nature. This study investigates different plenum and absorber configurations of solar air heating wall (SAHW) through experimental and numerical methods. The results show that parallel-flow SAHWs perform better than other placements of absorber plate, with a highest thermal efficiency reaching 80.51% and an average deviation of 5.5% between experimentally and numerically obtained outlet temperature. The designed SAHW in this study has potential for various industrial and residential applications such as air preheating, space heating, and drying.

Energy and exergy analysis of a vertical solar air heater with nano-enhanced absorber coating and perforated baffles

Ataollah Khanlari et al.

Summary: This work analyzes the effect of applying nano-enhanced absorber coating on the performance of an unglazed vertical solar air heating system. The study includes numerical analysis and experimental testing of different configurations of vertical solar air heaters. The results show that applying nano-embedded coating improves the thermal efficiency and exergy efficiency of the system. This research highlights the significance of nano-enhanced absorber coating in optimizing the performance and energy-saving of solar heating systems.

Effect of balcony forms difference on indoor thermal environment and energy saving performance of multiple-dwelling house

Xin Yuan et al.

Summary: By optimizing the design of the building envelope, a more comfortable and energy-efficient indoor environment can be created. However, open balconies might affect the health of occupants. This study focuses on the effect of a single balcony form in different climates and re-examines the rationality of traditional Japanese open balconies. The results indicate that closed balconies are more applicable in warm climate regions in winter, and closed balconies facing south have a more positive impact on the indoor thermal environment and energy-saving performance than open balconies.

Investigation on the Impact of Different Absorber Materials in Solar Still Using CFD Simulation-Economic and Environmental Analysis

Chandrakant Sonawane et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of different absorber materials on the performance of a solar still desalination system using computational fluid dynamics simulation. The results showed that the solar still painted with black toner exhibited the highest improvement in productivity and heat transfer coefficients. The CO2 mitigation and cost per liter were also evaluated, with black toner displaying favorable results in both aspects.
