Pyrolysis of ficus nitida wood: Determination of kinetic and thermodynamic parameters

A. Tabal et al.

Summary: In this study, the kinetic and thermodynamic analysis of ficus wood was conducted using thermogravimetric analysis, revealing a triple-step reaction corresponding to the pyrolysis of hemicellulose, cellulose, and lignin. The experimental data provided insight into the activation energy and thermodynamic parameters for each step, offering valuable information for the utilization of ficus wood in bioenergy applications.

Kinetics, thermodynamics and gas evolution of atmospheric circulating fluidized bed coal gasification fly ash combustion in air atmosphere

Zhichao Chen et al.

Summary: The study calculated the activation energy of different samples using model-free and model methods, showing that dry ash (DA) has better combustion performance compared to Yangquan anthracite, while water scrubbing ash (WSA) performs similarly to lean coal. Comprehensive analysis of combustion characteristics and gas emissions suggests that CGFA has combustibility and utilization value.

Kinetic and thermodynamic analyses during co-pyrolysis of greenhouse wastes and coal by TGA

Hasan Merdun et al.

Summary: Thermal and kinetic analyses of co-pyrolysis of greenhouse vegetables wastes (GVW) and coal were conducted using TGA with different heating rates in this study. The synergistic effect between GVW and coal during co-pyrolysis was highlighted by calculating the deviation between experimental and calculated values of mass loss and mass loss rate. The blend of 50%wt showed the smallest activation energy and was identified as the best combination for the simultaneous valorization of GVW and coal through pyrolysis.

Synergistic effect, kinetic and thermodynamics parameters analyses of co-gasification of municipal solid waste and bituminous coal with CO2

Guangchao Ding et al.

Summary: In this study, the co-gasification characteristics and synergistic interaction of municipal solid waste (MSW) and bituminous coal (BC) in CO2 atmosphere were investigated using thermogravimetric analysis. Results showed that addition of MSW can enhance the gasification reactivity of BC, leading to improved overall gasification efficiency. A significant synergistic effect was observed in the char gasification stage for all blends, with the optimal blend ratio of BC found to be 40% for the co-gasification process.

Abhisek Sahoo et al.

Summary: The study investigated the pyrolysis kinetics and thermodynamic parameters of Pongamia pinnata and Sapindus emarginatus seeds, as well as their blend. The blend showed promising results with lower activation energy compared to individual biomass. The experimental data was consistent with the reaction mechanism, and the neural network model effectively fit the experimental data.

Investigation of thermal behavior of pine sawdust and coal during co-pyrolysis and co-combustion

Zakari Boubacar Laouge et al.

Summary: The study revealed a significant synergistic effect between PS and coal during pyrolysis and combustion processes, with the proportions of PS and coal in the blend affecting reaction temperatures and mass loss rates. The blend of 25PS was found to be more suitable for energy production through both pyrolysis and combustion compared to 50PS. Further investigation with different blend ratios may provide more insights into this synergistic effect.

Sonia Zoltowska et al.

Summary: The kinetic parameters of thermal degradation of spongin from Hippospongia communis were evaluated, with the chemical reaction model found to best describe the experimental data and calculated activation energies slightly lower than commercial polyurethane foams. The study provides comprehensive insights into the pyrolysis pathway, mechanism, and outcomes of spongin-based scaffolds with relation to physicochemical characteristics of carbon materials, alongside critical discussion of the results and the physical meaning of the applied approximations.
