Sunflower oil as renewable biomass source to develop highly effective oil-soluble catalysts for in-situ combustion of heavy oil

Summary: In this study, a new ligand was synthesized using sunflower oil as the source material to prepare Fe, Ni, Co and Cu-based oil soluble catalysts. Computational study showed that Cu-based catalyst had the strongest bond energy with the ligand. Experimental results demonstrated the efficiency of the catalysts on heavy oil oxidation process and achieved a maximum temperature shift in the high-temperature oxidation zone.

Summary: In this study, trialkylmethylammonium molybdate ionic liquids (ILs) with multiple long-chain alkyl groups were designed and applied as the oil-soluble precursors of dispersed metal catalysts for slurry-phase hydrocracking. The performance and sulfidation behavior of molybdate ILs were characterized, and the different performance of oil-soluble precursors was explained by isolating and characterizing the dispersed MoS2 catalysts. The performance of molybdate ILs for slurry-phase hydrocracking of heavy oils was investigated, and the favored routes for the conversion of heavy oils were determined based on reaction rate constants calculated from a kinetical model.

Experimental study on viscosity reduction of heavy oil with water content by synergistic effect of microwave and nano-catalyst

Development of a Process Control System for the Production of High-Paraffin Oil

Ultrasound-assisted oxidative desulfurization (UAOD) of Iranian heavy crude oil: Investigation of process variables

Summary: The ultrasonic-assisted oxidative desulfurization (UAOD) process was successfully conducted on Iranian heavy crude oil. Factors such as ultrasound power, reaction time, catalyst amount, and stage of extraction were found to influence sulfur reduction. CuSO4 showed the best performance as a phase transfer agent (PTA), and multistage UAOD process had the highest sulfur removal rate. The UAOD process was three times more effective in sulfur reduction compared to the oxidative desulfurization (ODS) process.
