Trend and time series analysis by ARIMA model to predict the emissions and performance characteristics of biogas fueled compression ignition engine

Sunil Kumar Mahla et al.

Summary: Biomass-derived biogas has great potential as an alternative energy source due to its renewable and clean combustion characteristics. The autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model is used to forecast emissions and performance characteristics, showing high accuracy. Experimental results indicate lower emissions of NOx and smoke opacity, but increased emissions of CO, CO2, and HC compared to diesel counterparts, as well as a decrease in brake thermal efficiency. This study highlights the potential of biogas-diesel dual-fuel combustion mode under different operating conditions.

Exploration on the emissions and catalytic reactors interactions of a non-road diesel engine through experiment and system level simulation

Renhua Feng et al.

Summary: In this paper, the emission characteristics and catalytic reactors interactions of a non-road diesel engine are studied under non-road transient cycle (NRTC) through experiment and simulation. The results show high emission conversion efficiencies for HC, CO, NOX, and PM. The interactions of each catalytic converter are obtained, revealing the effectiveness of DOC in reducing CO and HC emissions and converting NO to NO2. The SCR and ASC also contribute to NOx reduction, and the DPF plays a crucial role in PM collection and oxidation.

Potential of emission reduction of a turbo-charged non-road diesel engine without aftertreatment under multiple operating scenarios

Renhua Feng et al.

Summary: In this study, a non-road diesel engine was tested under different operating conditions, and improvement measures were applied to optimize the engine and reduce emissions. The results showed significant reduction in particulate matter emissions at medium-high speed and low load, but higher nitrogen oxide emissions under low load conditions. However, at medium-high speed and load, nitrogen oxide emissions were reduced. Unburned hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide emissions were maintained at extremely low levels, and fuel consumption remained constant under all operating conditions.

Enhancement of the waste cooking oil biodiesel usability in the diesel engine by using n-decanol, nitrogen-doped, and amino-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotube

Ahmed I. EL-Seesy et al.

Summary: The depletion of fossil fuels makes it necessary to find alternative fuels to diesel. Waste cooking oil biodiesel (WCO) has interesting properties and could replace diesel fuel. Fuel additives such as functionalized MWCNTs and decanol can be used to enhance engine performance and reduce exhaust emissions.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the emission reduction effects of POC and DPF on non-road engines. The results showed that DPF had better purification effect, especially for particulate matter, under steady-state conditions. Both POC and DPF exhibited good purification effects under transient conditions.
