Power Sharing Control Algorithm for Direct Integration of Fuel Cells in a Dual-Inverter Electric Vehicle Drivetrain

Mehanathan Pathmanathan et al.

Summary: This article proposes a method to directly integrate a fuel cell into a dual-inverter-based EV drive for maintaining unidirectional power flow. A power sharing algorithm is introduced to control power flow and prevent unnecessary shutdown of the fuel cell. The injection of motor reactive current is a key aspect of this algorithm for achieving desired fuel cell power transfer.

Encoderless Parallel Predictive Torque Control for Induction Machine Using a Robust Model Reference Adaptive System

Haotian Xie et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a robust model reference adaptive system (MRAS) estimator for parallel predictive torque control (PPTC) scheme. It determines the weighting factor that modifies the relative importance of control objectives by evaluating torque and flux tracking error terms. The paper also reduces hardware complexity by employing an encoderless MRAS-based estimator for rotor speed and stator flux estimation.

MRAS Based Model Predictive Torque Control of Induction Motor Drive for Electric Vehicles

Aydin Boyar et al.

Summary: The number of fossil fuel vehicles is increasing worldwide, leading to an increased focus on zero-emission electric vehicles (EVs). Depending on the type of motor, EVs use converter and inverter topologies in their structure. This study focuses on the three-phase three-level active neutral point clamping (ANPC) inverter topology, chosen for its high power quality. Induction motors, known for their simple structure and low maintenance costs, are widely used in EVs. The study models a speed sensorless induction motor drive for EVs, using a model predictive controller (MPC) developed for torque control and a model reference adaptive system (MRAS) method for obtaining the speed value. The proposed induction motor drive for EVs is analyzed under varying speed and torque values.

Haichen Liu et al.

Summary: A hybrid switch consisting of high current-rated silicon (Si) IGBT and low current-rated silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFET has been proposed to improve inverter efficiency and lower device cost. Experimental results show that the Si/SiC hybrid switch-based three-level active neutral point clamped (3L-ANPC) inverter achieved 2% and 1.8% efficiency improvement at light load and heavy load compared to the conventional full Si IGBT inverter.
