Sorafenib attenuates liver fibrosis by triggering hepatic stellate cell ferroptosis via HIF-1α/SLC7A11 pathway

Siyu Yuan et al.

Summary: Sorafenib alleviates liver injury and fibrosis by inducing HSC ferroptosis through the HIF-1 alpha/SLC7A11 signaling pathway. Ferroptotic events triggered by sorafenib in HSC-T6 cells were not observed in hepatocytes or macrophages, highlighting the specificity of this process in liver fibrosis attenuation.

The Antioxidant Role of Selenium via GPx1 and GPx4 in LPS-Induced Oxidative Stress in Bovine Endometrial Cells

Samson O. Adeniran et al.

Summary: This study explored the antioxidant role of selenium in the form of selenomethionine in LPS-induced oxidative stress through GPx enzymes and the Nrf2/HO-1 transcription factor. It found that selenomethionine can regulate the expressions of GPx1 and GPx4 enzymes in BEND cells, thereby providing protection, and promote the expression of Nrf2 transcription factor-related genes during LPS stimulation.

Nicotinamide mononucleotide alleviates heat stress-induced oxidative stress and apoptosis in BMECs through reducing mitochondrial damage and endoplasmic reticulum stress

Han-Fang Zeng et al.

Summary: Heat stress can cause negative effects on mammary gland cells in dairy cows, but Nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) has a protective effect. NMN can inhibit the accumulation of oxidative stress substances, increase antioxidant enzyme activity, and reduce apoptosis through regulating mitochondrial fission and fusion and endoplasmic reticulum stress. These results demonstrate the potential benefits of NMN in alleviating mammary gland injury caused by heat stress in dairy cows.

Catechin Mediates Ferroptosis to Exert an Anti-Inflammatory Effect on RAW 264.7 Cells

Weiyang Kuang et al.

Summary: Catechin may exert an anti-inflammatory effect through mediating cellular ferroptosis. It appears to influence ferroptosis by activating cysteine and methionine metabolism and glutathione metabolism, while inhibiting the ferroptosis pathway. Several proteins in these metabolic pathways, as well as GPX4 and SLC7A11, which are related to ferroptosis, may be relevant to catechin through molecular docking.

Plasma Proteomic Profiling Reveals the Regulatory Factors of Milk Protein Synthesis in Holstein Cows

Xinling Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the plasma biomarkers and mechanism of plasma proteins in milk protein synthesis in cows with different long-term milk protein concentrations. The findings showed that cows with high milk protein concentration had higher concentrations of glucose, insulin-like growth factor 1, prolactin, insulin, and growth hormone. Additionally, differentially expressed proteins and the activation of the mTOR pathway were identified in cows with high milk protein concentration. In vitro experiments demonstrated that insulin-like growth factor 1 treatment enhanced beta-casein expression and activated the mTOR signaling pathway in bovine mammary epithelial cells.

Hepcidin Promoted Ferroptosis through Iron Metabolism which Is Associated with DMT1 Signaling Activation in Early Brain Injury following Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

Hongxia Zhang et al.

Summary: In a rat model of SAH, inhibition of DMT1 suppresses iron accumulation and lipid peroxidation, alleviating ferroptosis and early brain injury. Heparin downregulates hepcidin and DMT1 expression, increases FPN1, exerting protective effects equivalent to ebselen on ferroptosis and EBI. Furthermore, OSM increases hepcidin and DMT1 expression, decreases FPN1, aggravating ferroptosis and EBI, which can be reversed by ebselen.

Dietary supplementation of methionine mitigates oxidative stress in broilers under high stocking density

Z. Q. Miao et al.

Summary: The study aimed to explore the potential of dietary methionine supplementation in alleviating intestinal oxidative injury in broilers under high stocking density. Results showed that supplementation of 0.40% to 0.50% methionine helped decrease mortality rates in broilers under high stocking density. High stocking density led to reduced feed intake, daily weight gain, and increased oxidative stress markers, which were alleviated by additional methionine supplementation. The study suggests that 0.40% to 0.45% methionine supplementation can effectively mitigate oxidative stress in broilers under high stocking density conditions.

The Labile Iron Pool Reacts Rapidly and Catalytically with Peroxynitrite

Andre Luis Condeles et al.

Summary: Investigating the interaction between the Labile Iron Pool (LIP) and peroxynitrite in murine RAW 264.7 macrophage cells, it was found that removal of LIP increases intracellular oxidation of H2DCF, indicating that LIP reacts with peroxynitrite to decrease oxidant yield. The study further reveals that the LIP-peroxynitrite reaction has catalytic characteristics with an estimated rate constant of 10(6) to 10(7) M(-1)s(-1), suggesting LIP represents a constitutive peroxynitrite reductase system in RAW 264.7 cells.
