Summary: The iterative growth model (IGM) introduced in this study addresses variable growth states and non-instantaneous changes in growth rate. It provides a basic and flexible framework for understanding growth dynamics in organisms, supported by data from animals and plants. The model suggests that true growth dynamics do not have an explicit analytic solution in most cases and lies between the Richards and Gompertz equations, with implications for the maximum biomass of an organism and its sensitivity to temperature. The IGM displays great potential for modeling and predicting the growth of plants, endotherms, and exotherms.
