Poly-phosphocholination of liposomes leads to highly-extended retention time in mice joints

Weifeng Lin et al.

Summary: Surface-attached layers of phosphatidylcholine (PC) lipid vesicles can reduce the friction coefficient between sliding surfaces, potentially alleviating degenerative joint conditions. Functionalizing liposomes with PMPC moieties increases their retention time in joints, offering promise as long-lived boundary lubricants and efficient drug carriers for joint pathologies.

Benzo[g]coumarin-benzothiazole hybrid: A fluorescent probe for the detection of amyloid-beta aggregates

Na Hee Kim et al.

Summary: In this study, a new turn-on type fluorescent probe BCB-1 was disclosed for the detection of A beta plaques in Alzheimer's disease. BCB-1 showed significant emission enhancement at the near-infrared region and high selectivity and sensitivity towards A beta plaques. Its applicability for bio-imaging was confirmed in AD mice.

TAMRA-conjugated DRL tripeptide for the visualization of synovium

Jaehoon Kim et al.

Summary: A new synovium-homing tri-peptide, DRL, was developed through peptide screening and functionalized to visualize the synovium. The TAMRA-conjugated DRL, named DRL-TAM, demonstrated remarkable visualization ability on synovial-derived cells and synovial-related organs in cell screening and in vivo fluorescence imaging studies. This study opens up new possibilities for the diagnosis and treatment of synovium-related diseases.

Modular synthesis, host-guest complexation and solvation-controlled relaxation of nanohoops with donor-acceptor structures

Han Deng et al.

Summary: This study presents a modular synthetic approach for the preparation of carbon nanohoops with donor-acceptor or donor-acceptor-donor structures. The properties of these nanohoops, including host-guest complexation with fullerene, optical properties, and charge transfer dynamics, were systematically investigated. The findings revealed intriguing physical properties associated with the donor-acceptor motifs.

Chemical functional groups of extractives, cellulose and lignin extracted from native Leucaena leucocephala bark

Rafidah Md Salim et al.

Summary: The study characterized the chemical functional groups of an ethanol toluene-soluble extractive, alpha-cellulose, and lignin obtained from Leucaena leucocephala bark, revealing that aromatic functional groups were mainly found in the extractive, while water, carbonyl, and ether were dominant in cellulose, and methyl, methylene, carbonyl, and carboxyl groups were enriched in lignin.

Cycloparaphenylene-Phenalenyl Radical and Its Dimeric Double Nanohoop**

Yong Yang et al.

Summary: The study achieved the first example of a neutral spin-delocalized carbon-nanoring radical by integrating the open-shell phenalenyl unit into cycloparaphenylene. The spin distribution primarily localized on the phenalenyl segment and partially on the CPP segment due to steric and electronic effects. Adjusting the size of the CPP segments in this double nanohoop could potentially deliver donor-acceptor systems.
