High Steric-Hindrance Windmill-Type Molecules for Efficient Ultraviolet to Pure-Blue Organic Light-Emitting Diodes via Hybridized Local and Charge-Transfer Excited-State

Ziting Zhong et al.

Summary: This study proposes a new strategy for high-performance UV-blue emitters based on a high steric-hindrance windmill-type structure. These emitters exhibit good stability and a hybridized local and charge-transfer (HLCT) excited state. Experimental results show that the emission of the emitters can be modulated from UV/deep-blue to pure blue by adjusting the excitation components.

Efficient Non-Doped Blue Electro-fluorescence with Boosted and Balanced Carrier Mobilities

Runze Wang et al.

Summary: One of the most important challenges in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) is the development of highly efficient blue-emissive materials. In this study, a series of blue-emissive materials with donor-pi-acceptor (D-pi-A) structures containing a fluorene pi-bridge were synthesized and investigated. It was found that the insertion of the fluorene pi-bridge not only promoted the formation of hybrid local and charge-transfer excited states with high photoluminescent quantum yield (PLQY), but also enhanced hole mobilities through intermolecular face-to-face stacking. As a result, the non-doped OLED using TPACFOXZ achieved a high maximum external quantum efficiency of nearly 10% with balanced hole and electron mobilities.

Multifunctional luminophores with dual emitting cores: TADF emitters with AIE properties for efficient solution- and evaporation-processed doped and non-doped OLEDs

Chao Wu et al.

Summary: Three novel emitters with dual emitting cores were designed and synthesized, showing significantly improved thermal stability, absorption coefficients, and photoluminescence efficiencies. These emitters exhibit both aggregation-induced emission and thermally activated delayed fluorescence properties, which are beneficial for non-doped organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Doped and non-doped OLEDs made from these emitters achieve excellent electroluminescence performances with high efficiencies and minimal efficiency roll-offs.

Dual-acceptor thermally activated delayed fluorescence emitters: Achieving high efficiency and long lifetime in orange-red OLEDs

Xiaoxiao Hu et al.

Summary: In this study, four dual-acceptor typed thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters were designed and showed outstanding performance on the devices, with DTXO-TPA2 exhibiting the highest external quantum efficiency and power efficiency. The devices based on DTXO-TPA2 also demonstrated high lifetime and color rendering index.

Donor Arylmethylation toward Horizontally Oriented TADF Emitters for Efficient Electroluminescence with 37% External Quantum Efficiency

Quanyou Feng et al.

Summary: This study successfully designs and synthesizes thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters with high horizontal orientation dipole ratios through the introduction of arylmethylation. The green TADF OLED based on the designed TADF emitters exhibits high external quantum efficiency and power efficiency, making it one of the most efficient green OLEDs reported so far. This work provides a simple yet effective strategy for the design and construction of horizontally oriented luminogens for high-performance optical devices.
