One-step hydrothermal synthesis of fluorescent silicon nanoparticles for sensing sulfide ions and cell imaging

Chao Yang et al.

Summary: We have developed a hydrothermal method for synthesizing fluorescent silicon nanoparticles (F-SiNPs) with yellow-green emission, which showed excellent stability and good biocompatibility. By utilizing the specific reaction between S2- and 5,5'-dithiobis-(2-nitrobenzoic acid) (DTNB), a colorimetric assay for S2- was achieved. The F-SiNPs could be combined with the colorimetric detection system to construct a probe for fluorescence turn-off sensing S2- in aqueous solution due to inner filter effect.

Hydrothermal synthesis of CuFe2O4 nanoparticles for highly sensitive electrochemical detection of sunset yellow

Somayeh Tajik et al.

Summary: A new sensitive and selective sensor based on the modification of screen-printed electrode surface with CuFe2O4 nanoparticles was used to detect sunset yellow, a synthetic food coloring azo dye. The electrochemical behavior of the sensor was determined using chronoamperometry, differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), and cyclic voltammetry (CV) techniques. The CuFe2O4/SPE showed a greater anodic peak current for the sunset yellow oxidation compared to the unmodified SPE, indicating effective electrocatalytic response and excellent sensitivity. There was a linear relationship between the voltammetric current and different sunset yellow concentrations.

Surface state modulation of blue-emitting carbon dots with high quantum yield and high product yield

Mingxiu Lei et al.

Summary: This study investigates the surface state modulation mechanism of carbon dots (CDs) with high quantum yield (QY) and high product yield (PY). The findings show that CDs with high QY have a high content of C=O and pyrrolic N on their surface. Additionally, the product yield of CDs is not only determined by the presence of a crosslinked structure, but also positively correlated with pyridinic N content.
