Manipulations of phenylnorbornyl palladium species for multicomponent construction of a bridged polycyclic privileged scaffold

Lina Yin et al.

Summary: The authors developed a multicomponent reaction cascade via phenylnorbornyl palladium species to generate compound libraries based on hexahydromethanocarbazole. The method exhibited a broad scope with good yields and showed CYP11B1 inhibition activity.

Design, Synthesis, and Biological Evaluations of Pyridyl 4,5,6,7-Tetrahydro-4,7-Methanobenzo[d]isoxazoles as Potent and Selective Inhibitors of 11β-Hydroxylase

Lina Yin et al.

Summary: Inhibition of CYP11B1 is a promising therapy for diseases caused by excessive cortisol, and enantiomer discrimination provides clues for achieving selectivity. A designed compound showed highly potent and selective inhibition of CYP11B1, with minimal effect on CYP11B2 and other enzymes. The compound demonstrated significant reduction of plasma cortisol levels without interfering with aldosterone production.

Cordycepin Ameliorates Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis by Activation of the AMP-Activated Protein Kinase Signaling Pathway

Tian Lan et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that cordycepin has significant inhibitory effects on lipid accumulation, inflammation, and fibrosis development in liver cells. By activating the AMPK signaling pathway, cordycepin can effectively protect mice under metabolic stress from hepatic steatosis, inflammation, liver injury, and fibrosis.

Ginsenosides Improve Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease via Integrated Regulation of Gut Microbiota, Inflammation and Energy Homeostasis

Wenyi Liang et al.

Summary: Ginsenoside extract has shown beneficial effects on high-fat diet-induced nonalcoholic fatty liver disease by modulating gut microbiota, improving gut barrier function, and regulating metabolic inflammation. It also suppressed NF-kappa B/I kappa B signaling activation and promoted hepatic lipolytic genes while inhibiting lipogenic genes. This suggests that ginsenoside extract may be a potential agent for preventing NAFLD through its prebiotic, anti-inflammatory, and energy-regulatory effects.
