Summary: The high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) technique is widely used for routine analysis, but it faces challenges from matrix effects (MEs) which can impact the accuracy of the analysis. To overcome these challenges, assessment of MEs and implementation of strategies are necessary before method development. Approaches such as improving extraction and clean-up methods, changing ionization types, etc., can help reduce or eliminate MEs.
