Pharmacokinetic Profile of Δ9-Tetrahydrocannabinol, Cannabidiol, and Metabolites in Blood Following Vaporization and Oral Ingestion of Cannabidiol Products.

Cecilia L. Bergeria et al.

Summary: Limited data is available on the pharmacokinetics of cannabidiol (CBD) in different formulations. This study compared the pharmacokinetic profiles of CBD, Delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinol (9-THC), and related metabolites in blood and oral fluid after participants took 100mg of CBD in oral and vaporized forms. The results showed that oral and vaporized formulations produce significant variability in the pharmacokinetics of CBD, and CBD alone is unlikely to convert to Delta 9-THC or produce positive drug tests for Delta 9-THC or its metabolite.

Cannabidiol: pharmacology and therapeutic targets

Stevie C. Britch et al.

Summary: CBD products are commonly used for self-treatment without regulatory approval, with limited scientific evidence from clinical trials. Epidiolex is the only rigorously evaluated product approved for intractable childhood-onset seizures, while studies on CBD for other medical conditions are limited in number and often lack scientific rigor.

ALCOHOL USE DISORDER: THE ROLE OF MEDICATION IN RECOVERY

Barbara J. Mason et al.

Summary: Alcohol misuse in the United States continues to have a significant impact on society, with a large number of Americans dying each year. Despite the benefits shown by combining medication approved for treating AUD with evidence-based behavioral therapy, few individuals receive this treatment. There is a need for the development of new pharmacotherapies to improve AUD recovery goals.
