Summary: We have designed negatively charged nanofiltration membranes by modifying P84 flat membranes with HPEI polymers and infiltrating SCA4, which greatly enhance their chemical stability and molecular sieving capability. The membranes show excellent boron rejection rates at different pH values, outperforming membranes prepared by thin-film interfacial polymerization. This study demonstrates the potential of supramolecular macrocycles in designing efficient NF membranes for water reuse and removal of toxic ions.

Antifouling and chlorine-resistant cyclodextrin loose nanofiltration membrane for high-efficiency fractionation of dyes and salts

Summary: Antifouling loose nanofiltration membranes were prepared by constructing a porous cyclodextrin polymer layer on the membrane substrate, which effectively fractionated dyes and salts. The membranes demonstrated high-efficiency separation for dyes and low rejection for salts owing to the selective layer of porous cyclodextrin polymer. The cyclodextrin polymer layer also endowed the membranes with predominant chlorine resistance, and they maintained high filtration retention for Congo red.

Loose nanofiltration membranes based on interfacial glutaraldehyde-amine polymerization for fast and highly selective dye/salt separation

Summary: In this study, loose nanofiltration membranes based on the interfacial polymerization reaction between glutaraldehyde and amine were developed for dye/salt separation. The resulting membranes showed excellent permeance, hydrophilicity, and dye/salt selectivity. The addition of sodium dodecyl sulfate helped regulate monomer diffusion behavior and improve membrane performance. The membranes also exhibited good anti-fouling properties, making them suitable for dye recycling and purification.
