Ethyl 2-cyano-3-(4-(1,2,2-triphenylvinyl) phenyl) acrylate (TPE-SKJ), a tetraphenylethene-based luminogen, exhibits various photophysical phenomena such as aggregation-induced emission (AIE), reversible mechanochromic, solvatochromic, organic light emitting diode (OLED), and chemical sensing. It demonstrates high selectivity and sensitivity for detecting MnO4 (-) in mixed aqueous media and shows improved efficiency in OLEDs as an emissive layer compared to traditional green OLEDs.
Ethyl 2-cyano-3-(4-(1,2,2-triphenylvinyl) phenyl) acrylate(TPE-SKJ),a newly synthesized luminogen based on tetraphenylethene, with singlecrystal analysis exhibits photophysical phenomena such as aggregation-inducedemission (AIE); reversible mechanochromic, solvatochromic, organiclight emitting diode; and chemical sensing in aqueous media with greatselectivity and a low limit of detection. The synthesized materialdemonstrates high selectivity and sensitivity capacity for sensingMnO(4) (-) in mixed aqueous media (water/acetonitrile,v/v, 9/1). The detection limit for MnO4 (-) was found to be 0.086009 mu g mL(-1) with aquantum yield (phi) of 11%. Moreover, we employed TPE-SKJ materialin an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) as an emissive layer. Thedevice shows a maximum of 1.62% external quantum efficiency, higherthan nondoped emitting layer-based green OLEDs. The present resultswill encourage ongoing research into the design of novel stimuli-responsiveorganic materials with switchable properties based on their supramolecularinteractions for numerous applications. The single-crystalstudy resulted in the synthesis of anew tetraphenylethene-based AIEgen coded as TPE-SKJ and its confirmation.Aggregation-induced emission, reversible mechanochromic, and solvatochromismare displayed by TPE-SKJ. The TPE-SKJ is able to detect MnO4 (-) in aqueous media and in OLEDs. The outcomes ofthe present study for detecting MnO4 (-) pollutants in aqueous media and OLED as an emissive layer are described.
