Neural and behavioral traces of error awareness

Hans Kirschner et al.

Summary: Consciously perceived errors slow down reaction times in consecutive trials, but do not increase accuracy. At a neural level, error awareness and confidence modulate both the ERN and Pe, with the Pe being most predictive of error awareness. Error awareness plays a partial mediating role in the coupling between the ERN and behavioral adjustments in the following trial.

A systematic review of cognitive event-related potentials in mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease

Summary: This systematic review suggests that event-related potentials (ERPs) may be able to detect early signs of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly in the diagnosis and prediction of Alzheimer's disease (AD).

Anosognosia in Mild Cognitive Impairment: Lack of Awareness of Memory Difficulties Characterizes Prodromal Alzheimer's Disease

Christine Bastin et al.

Summary: The study indicates that some patients with Mild Cognitive Impairment show signs of anosognosia, which may be an indicator of future development of Alzheimer's disease. Findings suggest that early self-awareness of memory function in cognitive impairment could be linked to changes in brain regions.
