Ferrite effects on the hydrogen embrittlement of 17-4PH stainless steel

Yaojie Zheng et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of ferrite on the hydrogen embrittlement of 17-4PH stainless steels. By observing microstructure and conducting slow-strain-rate tensile tests and hydrogen permeability tests, it was found that the ferrite-bearing samples exhibited significantly lower hydrogen embrittlement susceptibility compared to the ferrite-free steel.

Summary: Hydrogen diffusion and interactions with structural defects are investigated in deformed 2205 duplex stainless steel. The study found that phase boundaries and ferrite grain boundaries have a significant impact on hydrogen diffusion, while plastic deformation has little effect.

Summary: The role of 8-Fe in hydrogen embrittlement of 17-4 PH steel was studied. It was found that 8-Fe can reduce hydrogen concentration, impede brittle fracture, and provide a new pathway to improve HE resistance in high strength martensitic steels.

Effect of vanadium content on hydrogen embrittlement of 1400 MPa grade high strength bolt steels

Haoyang Zhao et al.

Summary: Increasing vanadium content improves the resistance to hydrogen embrittlement in bolt steels, with vanadium precipitates acting as reversible hydrogen traps that inhibit hydrogen-dislocation interactions. Lower dislocation density and finer martensitic structure also contribute to hindering hydrogen-induced cracking.
