Mitochondria and lysosome-targetable fluorescent probes for hydrogen peroxide

Yongchun Wei et al.

Summary: Hydrogen peroxide, a key member of reactive oxygen species, regulates physiological processes like cell proliferation, differentiation, and migration. Abnormal production of H2O2 can lead to diseases. Various fluorescent probes for H2O2 detection at the subcellular level, including those targeting mitochondria and lysosomes, have been developed and utilized.

Twisted intramolecular charge transfer (TICT) and twists beyond TICT: from mechanisms to rational designs of bright and sensitive fluorophores

Chao Wang et al.

Summary: This review highlights the importance of the TICT mechanism in guiding the development of bright and sensitive fluorophores. It also summarizes the molecular design strategies and compares the twisted intramolecular charge shuttle (TICS) and twists during photoinduced electron transfer (PET) mechanisms. Understanding the structure-property relationships between twisted geometries and fluorescence can aid in the rational development of fluorophores involving molecular twisting in the excited state.
