Synergistically enhanced structural, thermal and interfacial stability of K0.45MnO2 via tailoring the local structure for high-energy and high-power potassium-ion batteries

Yan Huang et al.

Summary: In this study, a new P3-type K0.45Mn0.9Al0.1O2 material was designed to enhance the capacity and cycling life of K-ion battery cathodes. The introduction of inactive aluminum ions successfully suppressed lattice distortion, increased interlayer spacing, alleviated exothermic phase transition, and formed a stable cathode electrolyte interphase. This material exhibited high specific capacity and excellent cyclic performance, surpassing existing state-of-the-art cathodes for KIBs.

Hierarchical O3/P2 heterostructured cathode materials for advanced sodium-ion batteries

Xinghui Liang et al.

Summary: O3-type layered materials are considered as promising cathode materials for advanced sodium-ion batteries. However, complex phase transitions and severe electrochemical corrosion during cycling limit their performance. A heterostructured cathode with a P2-Na2/3MnO2-coated shell is designed to improve the reversibility, cycling stability, and electrochemical kinetics of the cathode.

Study of Synergistic Effects of Cu and Fe on P2-Type Na0.67MnO2 for High Performance Na-Ion Batteries

Rui Luo et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the modification of P2-type Na0.67MnO2 as a cathode material for Na-ion batteries. Cu and Fe single-element doping, as well as Cu and Fe double-element doping, are applied to improve the crystal structure and electrochemical performance of Na0.67MnO2. The results show that Cu and Fe double-doping greatly enhances the cycling stability and rate performance of the material. The Na0.67Mn0.92Fe0.04Cu0.04O2 cathode exhibits high-capacity retention and holds promise for high-performance Na-ion batteries.

Na0.67Mn(1-x)FexO2 Compounds as High-Capacity Cathode Materials for Rechargeable Sodium-Ion Batteries

Dumindu P. Siriwardena et al.

Summary: By synthesizing low-cost NMFx cathode materials through substitution of Mn with small amounts of Fe using a simple solid-state synthesis method, improved electrochemical performance was observed after initial activation. Fe was found to play both a structural and electrochemical role in the cathode performance. The evolution of structural properties during the capacity changes was analyzed through ex situ and in situ X-ray diffraction studies.
