Variability in Nutrient Dissipation in a Wastewater Treatment Plant in Patagonia: A Two-Year Overview

Luz Maria Manzo et al.

Summary: Constructed wetlands are effective solutions for urban wastewater treatment, but their performance may be influenced by climatic conditions. A study conducted over two years in Esquel, Patagonia, found that rainfall patterns and air temperature significantly affected the functioning and efficiency of a wastewater treatment plant. The treated effluents had consistently high levels of ammonia, with higher nitrate loads in 2018 compared to 2019. The plant successfully reduced suspended solids in 2018 but was less efficient in 2019.
