Polyzwitterion Manipulates Remineralization and Antibiofilm Functions against Dental Demineralization

Jiankang He et al.

Summary: This study developed a dual-functional nanocomposite with antibiofilm and remineralization properties, composed of zwitterionic poly(carboxybetaine acrylamide) and amorphous calcium phosphate. The nanocomposite exhibited significant inhibitory effects on bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation, and demonstrated bactericidal activities under acidic conditions. Furthermore, it showed better effects in promoting dental caries treatment compared to fluoride.

Application of Amorphous Calcium Phosphate Agents in the Prevention and Treatment of Enamel Demineralization

Jiarong Yan et al.

Summary: Enamel demineralization, a common dental problem, is a concern for dental professionals and patients due to its impact on both health and aesthetics. Amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) has gained attention as a potential agent for preventing or treating enamel demineralization. This article briefly reviews ACP stabilizers and their mechanisms, as well as the scientific evidence supporting the remineralization ability of these agents. The limitations of current research and future prospects for clinical translation of ACP agents are also discussed.

Mussel-inspired polysaccharide-based sponges for hemostasis and bacteria infected wound healing

Wen Sun et al.

Summary: This study successfully fabricated a multi-functional mussel-inspired polysaccharide-based sponge with hemostatic, antibacterial, and adhesive properties. The sponge, combined with thrombin, significantly reduced bleeding and exhibited excellent antibacterial activity against various bacteria. Due to its rapid hemostatic activity and effective infection resistance, the sponge achieved significantly accelerated wound healing efficiency compared to the control group.

Photothermal Waterborne Polydopamine/Polyurethanes with Light-to-Heat Conversion Properties

Cuneyt Erdinc Tas et al.

Summary: A polymeric matrix based on polydopamine-polyurethane (PDA-WPU) with efficient light-to-heat conversion properties is presented in this study. The hybrid PDA-WPU dispersions exhibit a unimodal particle-size distribution and particle sizes that increase with initial dopamine concentration and polymerization time. Films cast from PDA-WPU dispersions show black coloration and homogeneous morphology, with contact angles decreasing as PDA content increases. The PDA-WPU films demonstrate improved thermal decomposition behavior and thermal conductivity values compared to neat WPU films, and show strong photothermal activity with temperature elevations under solar and NIR laser irradiation.
