Hagfish-inspired Smart SLIPS Marine Antifouling Coating Based on Supramolecular: Lubrication Modes Responsively Switching and Self-healing Properties

Zheming Tong et al.

Summary: In this study, a smart SLIPS marine antifouling coating is prepared with responsively switching lubrication modes and self-healing property. The surface lubricity of SLIPS is regulated by introducing a responsive supramolecular interaction. The self-replenishment of lubricant adjusts the surface lubricity to switch antifouling modes between enhancive and normal.

Bioinspired Polymeric Coating with Self-Adhesion, Lubrication, and Drug Release for Synergistic Bacteriostatic and Bactericidal Performance

Haimang Wang et al.

Summary: A new biomimetic coating with self-adhesion, lubrication, and drug loading & release properties was developed in this study, which could be used to construct a versatile platform with synergistic bacteriostatic/bactericidal surface. The coating was prepared on the surface of titanium alloy using a polydopamine mediated layer-by-layer self-assembly method, and its characteristics were confirmed by various characterization methods. The coating exhibited good biocompatibility and enhanced lubrication and bacterial resistance properties.
