Size effect of gold nanoparticles in bimetallic ZIF catalysts for enhanced photo-redox reactions

Weian Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the photocatalytic activity of Au@ZIF-Co/Zn for treating Rhodamine B/Cr(VI) mixture solutions and 4-nitrophenol solution under visible light. It is found that the size of gold nanoparticles significantly affects the surface plasmon resonance effect, internal electron transfer capacity, and carrier density change. The charge-transfer photocatalytic mechanism and size influence of gold nanoparticles in composite photocatalysts are revealed through photoelectric chemistry experiments and radical quenching experiments.

Graphene Oxide/Silver Nanoparticles Platforms for the Detection and Discrimination of Native and Fibrillar Lysozyme: A Combined QCM and SERS Approach

Vania Tramonti et al.

Summary: We propose a sensing platform based on GO/AgNPs for the detection and discrimination of native and toxic fibrillar forms of lysozyme. QCM and SERS measurements were used to track the adsorption process of lysozyme and obtain kinetics and mechanism information. Experimental results demonstrate the capability of the GO/AgNPs system to discriminate different forms of lysozyme.

The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) guided preparation of Ag nanostructures on Ti substrate for sensitive SERS detection of small molecules

Guowei Sun et al.

Summary: Surface-enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) is a powerful analytical technique for highly sensitive detection of target molecules. The study found that silver nanoparticles with a size of around 100 nm exhibited the strongest SERS effect. A multilayered silver nanoparticles SERS substrate was prepared using electroless deposition and showed significantly enhanced SERS effect for small molecule detection.

Fabrication of optoplasmonic particles through electroless deposition and the application in SERS-based screening of nodule-involved lung cancer

Zehua Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a core-satellite optoplasmonic particle with a silica microsphere covered by gold nanoparticles was developed. Experimental and simulation results showed that the equatorial plane was the preferred plane for collecting signals, leading to improved signal intensity and stability. The hybrid structure exhibited lower relative standard deviation in repetitive measurements compared to gold nanoparticles. It was successfully applied for lung cancer diagnosis based on serum surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) analysis, achieving an accuracy of over 90% in distinguishing benign and malignant samples. This structure holds promise as a SERS substrate for early cancer screening using non-invasive biological samples.

In situ synthesis of MXene/Ag nanocomposites based flexible SERS substrates on PDMS for detection on fruit surfaces

Shuang Xiong et al.

Summary: Pesticides are often overused, causing harm to the environment and human health. However, current detection tools are not effective enough. In this study, a flexible substrate modified by MXene/Ag was synthesized, which could detect low concentrations of chemicals. The substrate also inhibited oxidation and allowed sampling from uneven surfaces, showing potential applications in food safety and environmental monitoring.

Graphene oxide photochemical transformations induced by UV irradiation during photocatalytic processes

K. Spilarewicz-Stanek et al.

Summary: This study investigated the stability and photochemical transformations of graphene oxide (GO) under UV irradiation and during photocatalytic processes, particularly in the presence of TiO2 thin films. It was found that the type of UV light source significantly affects the degradation of GO flakes, and TiO2 thin films can accelerate the degradation process of GO.
