Early detection and intervention to prevent leaky gut in preterm neonates is crucial for reducing the risk of life-threatening complications. This study investigated the role of breastmilk feeding and intestinal microbiota in the maturation of the intestinal barrier. The results provide insights into potential preventive and therapeutic strategies for NEC and other adverse health conditions in preterm infants.
