Effect of amino acid-based formula added to four-food elimination in adult eosinophilic esophagitis patients: A randomized clinical trial

Willemijn E. de Rooij et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate whether the addition of amino acid-based formula (AAF) to a four-food elimination diet (FFED) is more effective than FFED alone in reducing eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) and improving quality of life in adult patients. The results showed that while there was no significant difference in eosinophil counts between the two groups after 6 weeks, the group receiving FFED + AAF had a significant improvement in quality of life scores.

Summary: This study aimed to develop a core outcome set for the treatment of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) in adult and pediatric patients. Through collaboration with stakeholders globally, consensus was reached on outcome measures that can be applied to compare different treatments and improve data synthesis.

Summary: The study showed that in adult patients with eosinophilic esophagitis, topical mometasone furoate has a significant advantage over placebo in alleviating dysphagia, but no significant benefit was found in terms of quality of life measurements.

Systematic Review of Outcome Measures Used in Observational Studies of Adults with Eosinophilic Esophagitis

Alain M. Schoepfer et al.

Summary: The systematic review identified common readouts used in observational studies of topical corticosteroids, diet, and dilation in adult EoE patients, with endoscopic EoE-associated findings and esophageal eosinophil density being commonly assessed. Standardization of outcomes and validation of tools are necessary to facilitate interpretation of evidence and comparisons of interventions in meta-analyses of therapeutic trials in adults with EoE.
