Holographic Dual of Extended Black Hole Thermodynamics

Moaathe Belhaj Ahmed et al.

Summary: By respecting the conformal symmetry and treating the conformal factor as a thermodynamic parameter, we formulate the holographic first law that is exactly dual to the first law of extended black hole thermodynamics with variable cosmological constant but fixed Newton's constant.

Black hole thermodynamics is extensive with variable Newton constant

Tao Wang et al.

Summary: Inspired by studies on AdS black hole thermodynamics, this research proposes a formalism for the thermodynamics of non-AdS black holes. By introducing new variables, the black hole thermodynamics can be formulated consistently with standard extensive thermodynamics, with implications for the mass and intensive variables.

Novel logarithmic corrections to black hole entropy

Aritra Ghosh et al.

Summary: The aim of this work is to compute novel logarithmic corrections to black hole entropy coming from simultaneous fluctuations of energy and thermodynamic volume. By working in the isothermal-isobaric ensemble and applying the formalism to Kerr black holes in AdS, a general form of corrections to black hole entropy is obtained.

Logarithmic corrections to the entropy function of black holes in the open ensemble

Aritra Ghosh et al.

Summary: An open ensemble is well-suited for describing black holes, allowing for the exact analytic form of the logarithmically corrected entropy of charged and rotating black holes in anti-de Sitter spacetimes.

Holographic thermodynamics requires a chemical potential for color

Manus R. Visser

Summary: The thermodynamic Euler equation for high-energy states of large-N gauge theories is derived in this study. It is shown that this equation is dual to the generalized Smarr formula for black holes in the presence of a negative cosmological constant. Additionally, the fundamental variational equation of thermodynamics is matched to the first law of black hole mechanics, including variations of the cosmological constant and Newton's constant.

Rigorous expressions for thermodynamic properties in the NpH ensemble

Philipp Stroeker et al.

Summary: This study derives molecular expressions for the thermodynamic properties and entropy derivatives of fluids using the methodology developed by Lustig. The expressions are systematically represented by phase-space functions and only require ensemble averages of combinations of kinetic energy and system volume, eliminating the need for volume derivatives of the potential energy. The derived expressions are validated through Monte Carlo simulations.

Thermodynamics of AdS Black Holes: Critical Behavior of the Central Charge

Wan Cong et al.

Summary: We reconsider the thermodynamics of anti-de Sitter black holes in the context of gauge-gravity duality, rewriting the first law in a new form containing both thermodynamic pressure and the central charge C of the dual conformal field theory and their conjugate variables. The obtained novel thermodynamic volume leads to a new understanding of the Van der Waals behavior of charged anti-de Sitter black holes, with phase changes governed by the degrees of freedom in the conformal field theory. The new criticality is universal and directly relates to the thermodynamics of the dual field theory and its central charge, unlike the old P-V criticality.
