Chiral phenethylamine synergistic tricarboxylic acid modified ,B-cyclodextrin immobilized on porous silica for enantioseparation

Hui Li et al.

Summary: In this work, a series of chiral phenethylamine synergistic tricarboxylic acid modified, B-cyclodextrin bonded stationary phase for HPLC were synthesized via a simple one-pot synthesis approach. Various racemates were well separated on the tricarboxylic acid modified chiral stationary phases, with good reproducibility and stability. The fabrication of tricarboxylic acid modified chiral stationary phase is an efficient strategy to improve the application of B-cyclodextrin as CSPs in chromatography.

Recent progress of membrane technology for chiral separation: A comprehensive review

Quanji Zhu et al.

Summary: More than half of the world's medicines are chiral compounds, and efficient enantiomer separation methods are crucial for human health and safety. Chiral separation is challenging due to the similarities between enantiomers. Membrane separation technique has been widely used for chiral separation due to its simplicity, efficiency, low energy consumption, scalability, and continuous production.

Exploiting styrene-maleic acid copolymer grafting chromatographic stationary phase materials for separation of membrane lipids

Mengying Liang et al.

Summary: In this study, silica coated with styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer was successfully prepared via thiol-ene click reaction, and further modified with L-cysteine hydrochloride or dodecanol to fabricate Sil-SMA-amino acid and Sil-SMA-dodecanol stationary phase materials. The prepared stationary phase materials possessed reversed-phase/hydrophilic interaction/ion exchange mixed-mode retention mechanisms, achieving lipid separation of both classes and species with high column efficiency. The Sil-SMA-amino acid column was also applied for the separation of lipid extract from gastric cancer cell membrane, demonstrating the potential of SMA-based stationary phase materials in lipid analysis.

Effect of pendant stereostructure on backbone conformation and enantioseparation ability of helical polyacetylene-based chiral stationary phases

Ge Shi et al.

Summary: This study systematically explored the correlation between the configuration and position of stereocenters in proline-derived acetylene monomers and the polymer conformation as well as chiral resolution performance. Various experimental techniques and computational simulations were used to investigate the effects. The results showed that the configuration of the adjacent stereocenter determined the helical conformation and elution order of analytes, while the remote stereocenter affected the arrangement of pendants and discriminated analytes. The strength and number of intermolecular hydrogen bondings between enantiomers and CSPs predominantly determined the chiral discrimination.

Solvent-induced enantioselectivity reversal in a chiral metal organic framework

Benjamin D. Slater et al.

Summary: Solvent-induced enantioselectivity reversal is a rarely reported phenomenon in porous homochiral materials, but has been observed for the first time in a homochiral metal organic framework. This interesting selectivity reversal behavior may be observed in other competitive adsorption and nonchiral selective processes involving solvents.
