Stability and electronic structures of Cmmm-Pt3M alloys

Qun Wei et al.

Summary: In recent years, platinum-based alloys have been widely used in various fields due to their excellent properties. Through crystal structure prediction technology, the most stable structure of Pt3Li, Cmmm-Pt3Li, was obtained. By replacing Li atoms with different metal atoms, nine more stable Cmmm-Pt3M alloy structures were obtained. Various calculations were conducted to verify their structural stability and electronic properties.

Pressure-Driven Phase Transitions in Bulk HfS2

M. Grzeszczyk et al.

Summary: The effects of hydrostatic pressure on Raman scattering in bulk HfS2 were investigated. Two transformations of the Raman scattering spectra were observed under specific pressures, indicating a structural change in the material. The lineshape of the Raman spectra became more irregular with increasing pressure, resembling that of disordered materials. These changes were found to be irreversible during decompression.

Prediction of Above-Room-Temperature Superconductivity in Lanthanide/Actinide Extreme Superhydrides

Xin Zhong et al.

Summary: This study reports the discovery of a new class of extremely hydrogen-rich clathrate superhydride MH18 with a predicted critical superconducting temperature (Tc) up to 330 K, well above room temperature. The bonding and electronic properties of these superhydrides closely resemble atomic metallic hydrogen, and they represent the highest Tc found in a thermodynamically stable hydride compound.

Pressure-induced metallization and robust superconductivity in pristine 1T-HfSe2

S. Rahman et al.

Summary: The two-dimensional semiconductor 1T-HfSe2 exhibits highly tunable transport properties under pressure, including metallization and pressure-driven superconductivity. The study suggests the presence of a charge-density wave (CDW) state at low pressures, which is suppressed under high pressures. The occurrence of metallization and superconducting transition is attributed to a structural phase transition and changes in band structure.

Pressure-stabilized superconducting electride Li5C

Qinfang Wang et al.

Summary: The phase diagrams of the Li-C system under high pressure were obtained through a combination of structure searches and first-principles calculations. The dimension of localized electrons in Li5C decreases under compression, resulting in its superconductivity. Analysis showed that the superconductivity in Li5C mainly originates from the host hybridized electrons instead of interstitial electrons.

Dimensionality switching and superconductivity transition in dense 1T-HfSe2

Can Tian et al.

Summary: Using high-pressure techniques, a two-dimensional semiconductor has been transformed into a three-dimensional superconductor with excellent performance. The enhancement of interlayer coupling and bonding between interlayer atoms contributes to the emergence of nonlayered structures. This study is significant for understanding the relationship between dimensionality, structure, and superconductivity in TMDs.

Semiconductor-to-metal transition in HfSe2 under high pressure

Xueting Zhang et al.

Summary: This study reports the phase transitions and semiconductor-to-metal transition of hafnium selenide (HfSe2) under high pressure through experiments and theoretical calculations. The pressure-induced metallization occurs in the initial hexagonal phase, and upon pressure releases, the I4/mmm phase transforms back into the initial hexagonal structure. This work provides new insights into the structures and electronic states of HfSe2.

Summary: Through first-principles calculations, we investigated the structural stability and electronic properties of bulk and thin-film structures of hafnium dichalcogenides. Our results show that HfTe2 is semimetallic, while HfS2 and HfSe2 are insulating, with decreasing band gaps in thin films with increasing thickness for HfS2 and HfSe2, and maintained semimetallic properties for HfTe2 with increasing layers.
