CCT3-LINC00326 axis regulates hepatocarcinogenic lipid metabolism

Jonas Norskov Sondergaard et al.

Summary: By globally characterizing RNA-binding proteins (RBPs), we revealed the perturbation of RBP gene expression in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and identified their additional functions in tumor growth regulation, particularly in lipid metabolism. Furthermore, the interaction between non-canonical RBP CCT3 and LINC00326 was found to be involved in the regulation of lipid accumulation and degradation, affecting HCC cell phenotype and tumour growth in vivo.

Hallmarks of Cancer: New Dimensions

Douglas Hanahan

Summary: The concept of the hallmarks of cancer is a tool for simplifying the complexity of cancer phenotypes and genotypes into basic principles. This article proposes phenotypic plasticity and disrupted differentiation as distinct hallmark capabilities, and discusses nonmutational epigenetic reprogramming and polymorphic microbiomes as enabling characteristics. Additionally, the importance of senescent cells in the tumor microenvironment is highlighted. The integrative concept of the hallmarks of cancer helps in understanding the mechanisms of cancer development and applying that knowledge to cancer medicine.

Long intragenic non-coding RNA p53-induced transcript (LINC-PINT) as a novel prognosis indicator and therapeutic target in cancer

Tiefei He et al.

Summary: Cancer involves complex etiology factors and multiple stages, with long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) such as LINC-PINT playing a role in tumor suppression. Downregulation of LINC-PINT is observed in various cancers and is associated with poor prognosis and advanced stages, suggesting its potential as a diagnostic and prognostic marker in cancer. Additionally, the specific lncRNA regulatory mechanism of LINC-PINT may be a promising target for cancer therapies.

Swati Dahariya et al.

Summary: Acute megakaryocytic leukemia (AMKL) is a rare subtype of acute myeloid leukemia characterized by high proliferation of megakaryoblasts and myelofibrosis. This study identified 30 differentially expressed lncRNAs, including the highly expressed JPX, in megakaryoblast cells treated with PMA. Further analysis suggested that JPX lncRNA may play a role in MK differentiation by sponging oncogenic miRNAs during TGF-beta receptor activation.

Sequence-dependent recruitment of SRSF1 and SRSF7 to intronless lncRNA NKILA promotes nuclear export via the TREX/TAP pathway

Misbah Khan et al.

Summary: The study identified a cytoplasmic accumulation region (CAR-N) in intronless lncRNA NKILA that is crucial for its export by facilitating TREX recruitment. Depletion of TREX-TAP pathway components resulted in strong nuclear retention of NKILA, highlighting the importance of this pathway in mRNA export. The binding of SRSF1/7 to clustered motifs in CAR-N plays a key role in promoting the export of NKILA and is essential for its function in inhibiting breast cancer cell migration.

Construction of Novel lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA Network Associated With Recurrence and Identification of Immune-Related Potential Regulatory Axis in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Tian Zhan et al.

Summary: The study identified a novel lncRNA SNHG3/miR-214-3p/ASF1B axis that could promote the recurrence of HCC by regulating immune infiltration. Highly expressed genes including SNHG3, LINC00205, ASF1B, AURKB, CCNB1, CDKN3, and DTL were found to be closely associated with HCC grade and stage, and correlated with poor disease-free survival. The ASF1B gene, negatively regulated by miR-214-3p and influenced by SNHG3, was also positively correlated with immune infiltration in HCC patients.
