Ni(II) supramolecular gel-derived Ni(0) nanoclusters decorated with optimal N, O-doped graphitized carbon as bifunctional electrocatalysts for oxygen and hydrogen evolution reactions

Ekata Saha et al.

Summary: Developing bifunctional electrocatalysts for both oxygen and hydrogen evolution reactions (OER and HER) is crucial for clean fuel hydrogen production and renewable energy systems. This study successfully synthesized a series of Ni nanoclusters uniformly dispersed in heteroatom-doped graphitized carbon, demonstrating excellent catalytic activity and stability for OER and HER. Modulation of heteroatom dopants on the carbon matrix improved electron density redistribution and provided additional active sites, enhancing the electrocatalytic performance. This work presents a simplified approach for designing bifunctional electrocatalysts from supramolecular metallogels, opening new possibilities for energy applications.
