Au-Pd separation enhances bimetallic catalysis of alcohol oxidation

Xiaoyang Huang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the reaction rate can be almost doubled by separating the gold and palladium components in bimetallic carbon-supported catalysts. The enhancement is attributed to the coupling of separate redox processes occurring at isolated gold and palladium sites.

Dual Role of Pyridinic-N Doping in Carbon-Coated Ni Nanoparticles for Highly Efficient Electrochemical CO2 Reduction to CO over a Wide Potential Range

Qing Lu et al.

Summary: Efficient and stable electrocatalysts are crucial for the electrocatalytic CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) into chemical products. In this study, a NC@Ni/C nano-composite with a core-shell structure was developed as an effective electrocatalyst for CO2RR to CO over a wide potential range. The catalyst exhibited high CO Faradaic efficiency and excellent stability, primarily attributed to the pyridinic-N doping in the carbon shell of Ni NPs.

PVDF-directed synthesis, stability and anion exchange of cesium lead bromide nanocrystals

Suvadeep Panda et al.

Summary: This research focuses on the role of polymers in the synthesis and properties of photoluminescent perovskite nanocrystals. The study shows that polymers can influence both the crystal structure and emission properties of the nanocrystals. The researchers also developed a method using a polymer-directed antisolvent approach to synthesize perovskite crystals at room temperature. They found that hydrophobic polyvinylidene fluoride can reduce the size of perovskite crystals to nano dimensions. Additionally, the study reveals that these nanocrystals can undergo rapid encapsulation in polymer matrices and exhibit enhanced stability in aqueous solutions. The findings of this research have implications for the use of these nanocomposites in hydrogen production and light-emitting devices.

Integrating benzofuran and heteroradialene into donor-acceptor covalent organic frameworks for photocatalytic construction of multi-substituted olefins

Wan-Kai An et al.

Summary: Covalent organic framework (COF) is a new platform for developing efficient and environmentally friendly heterogeneous photocatalysts. This research focuses on constructing benzofuran-embedded COFs (BF-COFs) with solvent tolerance and exploring their application in photoredox reactions. The BF-COFs exhibit favorable properties for visible light response and efficient separation of photogenerated charges, enabling the promotion of C-S bond formation and the synthesis of chiral olefins and chiral amino thiazoles.

Evolution of Micron-Spaced Patterns within Precipitating Patterns of In Situ Synthesized Silver Nanoparticles in a Nanodot-Embedded PVA/PVP Film

Ankit Sahu et al.

Summary: This study uses biomolecule-derived photoluminescent carbon nanodots as reducing agents to achieve periodic pattern formation in thin polymer films, controlling the formation of silver nanoparticle micron-spaced patterns by varying precursors and reaction kinetics. The understanding of chemical reaction-based pattern formation is expected to help in resolving the formation of artistic spatiotemporal patterns in nature.

Promotion Effect of Modified Ni/C by La-Ce Oxide for Durable Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

Myeong Je Jang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the improved electrocatalytic activity and durability of Ni in an alkaline atmosphere for the hydrogen evolution reaction, achieved through the interaction between Ni and La-Ce oxide (LCO). The interaction between Ni and LCO guarantees excellent HER durability, leading to changes in electronic structure and improved activity, making it a powerful way to enhance the efficiency of anion exchange membrane water electrolysis (AEMWE) for high-efficiency hydrogen production.
