Crystal Facet and Architecture Engineering of Metal Oxide Nanonetwork Anodes for High-Performance Potassium Ion Batteries and Hybrid Capacitors

Summary: Metal oxide anodes have poor electrochemical performance in potassium ion batteries due to their wide band gaps and deficient ion-transport kinetics. In this study, crystal facet and architecture engineering of metal oxides are used to enhance the potassium ion storage performance. The nanonetwork anodes of bismuth antimonate show outstanding capacity, cycling life, and rate capability. This study proposes a promising avenue to design advanced hierarchical nanostructures for potassium ion batteries and hybrid capacitors.

Sb2O4 @PPy core-shell nanospheres as anode materials for lithium-ion storage

Summary: Globular Sb2O4 @ PPy core-shell nanospheres were successfully synthesized using a method that combines controllable synthesis of nanospheres and conductive nanocomposite engineering. These nanospheres possess an ultrastable structure, relatively large void space, and shortened diffusion distance, along with a thin conductive PPy shell that can alleviate the significant volume change. As an anode material for lithium-ion batteries, the obtained Sb2O4 @ PPy core-shell nanospheres exhibit enhanced electrochemical performance and high rate capability.
