Bridging electrocatalyst and cocatalyst studies for solar hydrogen production via water splitting

Masaki Saruyama et al.

Summary: Solar-driven water-splitting is a promising technology for sustainable energy generation. Hybridizing photocatalysts or photoelectrodes with cocatalysts can enhance efficiency, however, careful consideration is needed due to critical factors with highly-active electrocatalysts. This article summarizes recent advances in electrocatalyst materials and strategies for designing advanced cocatalysts.

Design principles for water dissociation catalysts in high-performance bipolar membranes

Lihaokun Chen et al.

Summary: This study reveals the important role of electronic conductivity in modulating the performance of water dissociation catalysts in bipolar membranes and finds that ionic conductivity has little effect on performance. Optimized BPM water electrolyzers can efficiently generate oxygen and hydrogen, which may accelerate the deployment of new technologies.

An efficient hydrogen evolution photocatalyst of Rh@Cr2O3-loaded PbMoO4 twenty-six facet polyhedrons

Jing Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, an excellent hydrogen evolution photocatalyst (PM/Rh@Cr2O3) was synthesized by loading Rh@Cr2O3 onto a PbMoO4 twenty-six facet polyhedron. The modification significantly improved the performance of shape anisotropic semiconductors, leading to a higher hydrogen yield rate and excellent photo-stability.
