Efficient light-driven reductive amination of furfural to furfurylamine over ruthenium-cluster catalyst

Zhen Xue et al.

Summary: This study successfully fabricated ultrasmall Ru nanoclusters with positive charged Rud+ species at the interface and achieved the conversion of furfural to furfurylamine through light-driven reductive amination and hydrogen transfer of ethanol coupling. The photocatalytic activity and selectivity were found to be strongly influenced by the particle size and electronic structure of Ruthenium.

Ms Kanika Saini et al.

Summary: This Review focuses on the one-pot synthesis of sustainable primary amines by catalytic reductive amination of bio-based carbonyl compounds with NH3 and H-2. It discusses the use of both precious and non-precious metals as catalysts, along with different supports and solvent systems. The review also explores the role of acidic and basic supports on the yield of the primary amines. Overall, it provides valuable insights into the design and development of efficient catalysts for selective reductive amination of various carbonyl compounds to corresponding amines.

Ambient-Temperature Reductive Amination of 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural Over Al2O3-Supported Carbon-Doped Nickel Catalyst

Qizhi Hu et al.

Summary: An efficient catalytic system using a low-cost non-noble-metal catalyst was developed for the conversion of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) into N-containing compounds. A carbon-doped Ni catalyst supported on Al2O3 was obtained via pyrolysis-reduction, and it showed high selectivity and yield in the reductive amination of HMF. The catalyst could be recycled and applied to the synthesis of biomass-derived amines at ambient temperature.

Efficient and selective approach to biomass-based amine by reductive amination of furfural using Ru catalyst

Hongtao Zou et al.

Summary: A powerful and practical approach to biomass-based amine, reductive amination of furfural (1a) to furfurylamine (2a), was developed using Ru catalyst (Ru/BNC) supported on boron/nitrogen co-doped carbon (BNC) with hydrous hydrazine (N2H4·H2O) as a nitrogen source and hydrazone as an intermediate. The Ru/BNC catalyst exhibited high efficiency and selectivity in promoting 1a/N2H4-to-2a transformation with a yield exceeding 99%.

Ptn-Ov synergistic sites on MoOx/γ-Mo2N heterostructure for low-temperature reverse water-gas shift reaction

Hao-Xin Liu et al.

Summary: Constructing effective catalytic interfaces is crucial for improving catalytic performance. In this study, the authors utilized the stress of MoO3/gamma-Mo2N structure and the interaction between Pt and support to construct an effective catalytic interface for the low-temperature reverse water-gas shift reaction. By depositing isolated Pt atoms onto a thin layer of MoO3 surface, followed by reduction into MoOx and formation of Pt clusters, high-density Pt-n-O-v active sites were created, leading to enhanced catalytic activity.

Selective oxidation of methane to methanol and methyl hydroperoxide over palladium modified MoO3 photocatalyst under ambient conditions

Songmei Sun et al.

Summary: Selective partial oxidation of methane to valuable oxygenated products is challenging, as over oxidation to COx often occurs. In this study, a Pd/MoO3 photocatalyst was developed to achieve excellent methane oxidation to methanol and methyl hydroperoxide using in situ generated H2O2 under simulated solar light. The results demonstrate high selectivity and productivity, with PdO species playing a crucial role in suppressing over oxidation.

Summary: Tuning of metal-metal/oxide interaction is crucial for enhancing supported catalyst performance. In this study, a Cu/Zn bimetallic MOFs was synthesized and converted into a ZnO/nitrogen-doped carbon composite supported Cu catalyst (Cu-ZnO/NC-BMOFs) for hydrogenation-amination tandem reaction. The developed catalyst exhibited superior performance and stability compared to traditional Cu/ZnO/NC-IWI catalyst, converting nitroarenes into imines or secondary amines with high selectivity.
