In this study, a seed-mediated method for generating ε-Fe2O3 is reported. By using c-Fe2O3 nanoparticles as seeds and calcining Prussian blue (PB) through a proliferative reaction, the generation of c-Fe2O3 can be accelerated. The synthetic reaction can be carried out at a temperature below 300 degrees C, suggesting its potential for low-temperature synthesis of ε-Fe2O3.
Epsilon iron oxide (c-Fe2O3) is a material with a high coercive field. Herein we report seed-mediated generation of c-Fe2O3. The generation of c-Fe2O3 can be accelerated with the calcination of Prussian blue (PB) by a proliferative reaction, using c-Fe2O3 nanoparticles as a seed. The present synthetic reaction occurs at a temperature below 300 degrees C, suggesting this is a promising method for low-temperature synthesis of c-Fe2O3.
