Differential Metabolomic Fingerprinting of the Crude Extracts of Three Asteraceae Species with Assessment of Their In Vitro Antioxidant and Enzyme-Inhibitory Activities Supported by In Silico Investigations

Gokhan Zengin et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the chemical composition and pharmacological activities of methanolic extracts from three less investigated Asteraceae plants. The extraction methods had significant effects on the chemical composition of Echinops ritro and Tripleurospermum decipiens extracts but had little influence on Centaurea deflexa extracts. The extracts exhibited antioxidant and enzyme inhibitory activities, which are relevant to pathological diseases. Chemometric analysis could differentiate between different plant samples and extraction modes.

ACE2 and LOX Enzyme Inhibitions of Different Lavender Essential Oils and Major Components Linalool and Camphor

Sevde Nur Biltekin et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the inhibitory potential of Lavandula angustifolia, Lavandula stoechas, and Lavandula x heterophylla essential oils, as well as their main compounds linalool and camphor, on lipoxygenase enzyme (LOX) and angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) in vitro. The results showed significant inhibitory effects of these oils and compounds, suggesting their potential therapeutic uses. Further in vivo studies are required to confirm their safety and efficacy.
