In vitro cytotoxicity and genotoxicity of single and combined pesticides used by Bolivian farmers

Jessika Barron Cuenca et al.

Summary: The study found that commonly used pesticides, especially those containing chlorpyrifos and tebuconazole, induced oxidative stress and DNA damage in HepG2 cells. This suggests that these pesticides, alone or in mixtures, can have genotoxic effects, consistent with previous population studies.

Mitotic and chromosomal effects induced for biosynthesized nanoparticles from three mediators on Allium cepa root cells

Nancy Beatriz Andrioli et al.

Summary: The genotoxicity of biogenic silver nanoparticles obtained from three microbial mediators was evaluated using the Allium cepa assay. Results showed that different treatments had different genotoxic effects, and the cytological responses of meristematic cells may be affected by the features of the biogenic nanoparticles.

Dose-independent genotoxic response in A549 cell line exposed to fungicide Iprodione

Nancy B. Andrioli et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the genotoxicity and oxidative stress in the A549 cell line exposed to sublethal concentrations of Iprodione. The increase in Iprodione concentrations slightly raised the probability of belonging to the genotoxic category, while oxidative stress analysis showed a significant linear increase in SOD and a significant linear decrease in GSH and GST.
